OK, this is great. So, Microsoft Game Studios used to have about 15 different smaller companies that worked for them making XBox games. There was Bungie, UbiSoft, Codemasters, and about 15 other smaller companies that if were not backed up by Microsoft, they would of been out of business years ago.
Well, recently Microsoft has been treating it's smaller companies like shit, so they decided to leave Microsoft. They thought they would be better on their own, and most of them are doing alright, some were either bought back up by Microsoft, or rivals like Sony or Nintendo snatched them up.
So here is where it gets fun. Video games is a billion dollar a year industry, and Microsoft pulls in most of that revenue. One of Microsoft's biggest hitters is Halo. Unless you lived under a rock there is a new Halo that just came out which went flying off the shelves. And the best part is...Microsoft is not getting a dime for it. Bungie is the creator of Halo, and Microsoft backed them up 100% financially for it, as long as they got a profit cut. Well now that Microsoft is treating it's sub-companies like shit (charging them more for games, limiting them on profits, etc.) bungie left Microsoft long before they could reach their hand in to Bungie, but not too soon so they could of used Microsoft's money to make the game. Classic.
